Minoxidil works by increasing blood flow and partially enlarging miniaturized follicles. This prolongs the growth phase of the hair cycle allowing the hair to become longer and thicker. With more follicles in the growth stage, it is possible to see improved coverage of the scalp. The follicles still continue to cycle and several cycles may be necessary before maximum potential hair growth can be achieved.

How do we make Minoxidil better?
 

15% Minoxidil Cream and 10% with Carrier Solution

This formulation Minoxidil 15%, available by prescription. Minoxidil exhibits a linear dose-response relationship. The thinking is, increasing the concentration of Minoxidil will improve the response (hair growth) in quantity and decrease the time to results. Minoxidil is only soluble in standard liquid base at a concentration of 5%. In order to achieve the 15% concentration, a cream base must be used and Minoxidil particles micronized. This results in a rapidly absorbing double strength Minoxidil application. The cream may be cosmetically challenging to apply in areas where a significant amount of hair is present, thus it is recommended as a once a day (evening) spot treatment for areas that have been slow to respond to other treatment approaches. The Minoxidil cream may be applied twice daily if application proves not too difficult. Also a 10% strength with a special carrier solution is also available.
